What is XPOSED?
You can only customize your android using widgets and launcher apps, lockscreens if your device is not rooted.
If you have a rooted device, you can do many more things than an unrooted device.
Rooted devices can install custom ROMs. But without installing custom ROMs, you can modify (customize) your android's stock ROM with Xposed. It is one of the best things to customize your device if you are on the Stock/Custom ROM.
Download and install the latest xposed installer here.
Open the app, go to "Framework" and click "install/update".
Now you can use this app for customizations. You need to download "modules" since you can't customize your device with just installing "xposed installer".
So, go to "download" and select "modules" you want to download.
Download them and install.
Go to "Modules" and see your downloaded modules.
To activate, "Check" the Modules.

These are not permanent modifications. You can always activate and deactivate them in "Modules".
